{"id":768,"date":"2012-09-04T19:14:42","date_gmt":"2012-09-05T02:14:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.californiastudioglass.org\/?page_id=768"},"modified":"2012-11-04T18:59:42","modified_gmt":"2012-11-05T02:59:42","slug":"the-team","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.californiastudioglass.org\/?page_id=768","title":{"rendered":"The Team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong id=\"internal-source-marker_0.4201461267657578\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">This project is a self-funded, all volunteer community effort.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In January 2012, Mary White and Michelle Knox, glass faculty at The Crucible, proposed to Steve Young, Crucible Director, that they organize a two-day symposium. \u00a0The event would be to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the American Studio Glass movement, with a focus on California artist contributions to the movement. \u00a0The California Glass Exchange (CGE) was used as a model. \u00a0CGE Started at San Jose State University\u2019s glass program in 1984 and has been hosted at educational facilities and glass programs around California on a semi annual basis.<\/p>\n<div>The Crucible agreed to donate the facility, studio space, equipment, and staff support for the project. \u00a0This was with the understanding that Many and Michelle would find all financial support for the program, design the schedule, and organize all participants and events. \u00a0The Crucible glass faculty agreed to join in the efforts and the project was launched. \u00a0All the Crucible glass faculty organizers are working as volunteers and are collaborating with skilled and talented Crucible interns, volunteers, and students. \u00a0With the exception of the keynote speakers, all of the participating demo and lecture artists are donating their time and expertise. \u00a0We greatly appreciate their generosity! \u00a0The goals of the glass weekend are to educate and inform the public about the evolution of the Studio Glass movement and the contributions of California artists who work with glass. \u00a0It is also our goal to strengthen links between local glass art schools, public access studios, artists, students, collectors, and the wider arts community in California. \u00a0It is taking the \u201cglass village\u201d to raise this project. \u00a0We are very grateful to all who are contributing their talents.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Organizing Team<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.californiastudioglass.org\/?p=371\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mary While, Conference Co-producer<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.californiastudioglass.org\/?p=299\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Michelle Knox, Conference Co-producer<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.californiastudioglass.org\/?p=1365\">Barbara Barnett, Press, Communications &amp;
